On 3rd September, Mr. Mawlavi Matiul Haq Khalis, Acting President of Afghan Red Crescent, meets with Mr.Takashi Okada, the Ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan, in the capital Kabul. During the meeting, Mr. Khalis expressed gratitude to Japan for its assistance and insured that the assistance would be distributed transparently to those in need. He further stated that ARCS is currently providing both food and non-food items to individuals in need, particularly orphans, as well as offering monthly cash assistance to widows who have lost their family head due to the conflicts of past 40 years and are now responsible for their families. Mr. Khalis also mentioned that efforts are being made to provide vocational education to women who have lost their family head, enabling them to become self-sufficient and meet their basic needs. Additionally, Afghan Red Crescent aims to offer monthly cash aid to vulnerable headless families who are currently forced to beg for survival. Furthermore, Mr. Khalis highlighted the existence of relief and treatment Centers for Psychiatric Patients in several provinces. Over the past year, these centers have successfully facilitated the recovery of hundreds of individuals who have subsequently reintegrated into society and resumed their regular lives. Moreover, Mr. Khalis stated that there are over 12,000 registered children suffering from ventricular septal defects who are awaiting treatment. To address this issue, Afghan Red Crescent has decided to establish a fully equipped hospital dedicated for timely and free treatment of children who are suffering from ventricular septal defects. Mr. Khalis emphasized that the Afghan Red Crescent cannot independently reach all the areas mentioned earlier and appealed for international support in addressing this issue. During the meeting, Japanese ambassador expressed gratitude towards the Afghan Red Crescent for its transparent distribution of $7.7 million financial aid from Japan to those in need. He acknowledged the organization as a reliable partner in Afghanistan and highlighted its significance in providing assistance to needy and vulnerable individuals. He pledged ongoing collaboration and support to Afghan Red Crescent. He said, "We needed a reliable partner in Afghanistan, and fortunately, the Afghan Red Crescent has fulfilled this requirement and emerged as one of our important partners in our efforts to help the vulnerable and needy people of the country." He promised his permanent cooperation with the Afghan Red Crescent.
