The Afghan Red Crescent Society celebrates International National Societies day!
Today, on Saturday, 7th of May 2022, the Afghan Red Crescent Society celebrated International day of National Societies in the "B" auditorium of ARCS. The meeting was attended by Mawlavi Matiul Haq Khalis, acting president of the ARCS, Charlotte Morrell, deputy director of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan, and Ms. Roberta, director of cooperation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mr. Nesoufor, president of IFRC, Mr. Farid Zia, Head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society in Afghanistan, and Mr. Ahmed, Representative of the Qatar Red Crescent Society in Afghanistan, some other guests, representatives of national communities and heads and directors of the Red Crescent departments.
Addressing the gathering, Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis, acting president of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, presented his speech and said, that the Afghan Red Crescent Society is eager to serve as an active member of the international movement in accordance with the principles of the international movement. He said that the Afghan Red Crescent Society was carrying out all its humanitarian activities as always with full independence and promised to take part in humanitarian affairs at the international level.
He further said that long wars, natural disasters, diseases and social illness have faced many of our countrymen, but Alhamdulillah the Afghan Red Crescent Society as the country's first and lasting humanitarian national foundation, was able to reach them at any time and in any place. He said that The Afghan Red Crescent is committed in providing timely assistance to disasters affected people. We are happy that our partners have always stood shoulder to shoulder with us and through our joint and coordinated work we have been able to reach out to the countrymen.
We believe that through joint and coordinated work with the national communities and the international movement, we will be able to provide better humanitarian services and reach out to one another, which will help us to bring peace and prosperity to the lives of our poor countrymen.
Addressing the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) staff, the Acting President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) said: Full transparency can do great and powerful things. Our message to our partners is that there is a lot of flooding in Afghanistan these days and we intend to help those in need," he said. I urge you to stand by the Afghan Red Crescent so that we can work together to save the country from disaster.
At the end of his speech, Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis thanked the staff and volunteers of the Afghan Red Crescent Society for their faithful hand in helping the poor and the needy day and night and spreading smiles on the faces of the bereaved.
Mr. Nesufer, director of IFRC, told the participants that any action taken with kindness would yield the best results. He said that in the past six months, the Afghan Red Crescent had provided assistance to about 600000 people in Afghanistan, half of whom had received winter supplies. He said that the Red Crescent volunteers and staff work hard and provide services, but one thing is very important, that we have many problems ahead. That’s why these services are just like a drop in the ocean. Kindness has a central role in services, which has led to many donations.
Charlotte Morrell, deputy head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan said the volunteers are the backbone of the national community, we have made significant contributions to post-transformation health in Afghanistan, which currently has a number of hospitals. "We are committed to continuing to support the Afghan Red Crescent in any time".
