Paktia: AFN 3.2 Million Water Canal Project Handed Over for Use

The ARCS has completed a water canal project worth AFN 3.2 million in Gul Ghundai village of Zazi Aryob District, Paktia Province, and has handed it over for public use.

As part of the project, a 303-meter water canal and a 120-meter retaining wall were constructed, while a 2,200-meter canal was cleaned over a period of one month.

A total of 84 skilled and unskilled workers were employed during the implementation of the project. Each skilled worker received AFN 24,000, while each unskilled worker received AFN 15,000 in return for their work.

The project was implemented with financial support from the ICRC and aims to provide irrigation water to agricultural lands in Gul Ghundai, Matani, and Kotki villages of Zazi Aryob District. Around 4,000 jeribs of agricultural land will benefit from the water supplied through the project.

Through the construction and rehabilitation of waterways, the ARCS helps improve irrigation facilities for agricultural land while also providing employment opportunities for local communities.
