Kabul: Free Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate Surgeries Begin at ARCS Central Hospital

A specialist medical team from Al-Markazul Islami of Bangladesh has begun providing free treatment and surgeries for children with cleft lip and palate at the ARCS Central Hospital, in cooperation with the ARCS.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, General President of the ARCS, welcomed the visiting medical specialists from Bangladesh and thanked them for their support in providing treatment and surgeries to children from underprivileged families.

Mr. Delawar said addressing the healthcare needs of poor and vulnerable citizens is one of ARCS’s key priorities. He added that ARCS is working to provide healthcare services to patients who cannot afford the costs of treatment and surgery.

Hamza Shahidul Islam, a representative of Al-Markazul Islami of Bangladesh, said this is the fourth time the organization’s medical team has provided treatment and surgeries for children with cleft lip and palate at the ARCS Central Hospital.

He said 285 children successfully underwent surgery during the previous three rounds, while around 120 children are expected to receive treatment and undergo surgery in the current round.

Mr. Shahidul Islam appreciated the healthcare facilities and support provided by the ARCS for the treatment and surgeries, saying that the procedures will be carried out in an organized manner with the available facilities.

Dr. Abdullah Irfan, Director of Health Services at ARCS, also briefed participants on the Society’s healthcare services.

He said ARCS provides free treatment and surgery at its Cardiac Hospital to children with congenital heart defects whose families cannot afford the costs of treatment.

Dr. Irfan also highlighted ARCS’s efforts to provide healthcare services to families in need in remote areas and reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to continuing and expanding healthcare services for vulnerable citizens.
