The Western Zone Marastoon Unit of the ARCS is providing vocational training programs for 150 women without guardians in Herat province, aiming to strengthen their economic capacity and provide opportunities for an independent life.

So far, participants have completed three and a half months of both practical and theoretical training in various fields, including tailoring, traditional Afghan embroidery, sweets making, herbal product production, and the packaging of dried fruits and saffron.

These programs are implemented to enable the women to start small businesses, generate income, and reduce their dependence on ongoing assistance.

As part of the program’s support services, the ARCS also covers transportation costs alongside vocational training. Yesterday, 383,500 Afghanis were distributed for the remaining 13 days of transport expenses, including AFN 292,500 for trainees, AFN 83,200 for instructors, and AFN 7,800 for security personnel of the training centers.

The program is funded by the Finnish Red Cross and the British Red Cross.
