Kabul: One-Day Workshop Held for Staff on Lessons Learned from the Eastern Zone Earthquake Response

A one-day workshop on the lessons learned from the humanitarian response to the Eastern Zone earthquake was held at the Central Headquarters of ARCS for 30 staff members from the PEMR Unit, the Youth and Volunteers, Disaster Management, and Health Departments, as well as the Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman provincial branches of the Eastern Zone.
The workshop, financially supported by the IFRC, aimed to review the humanitarian operations carried out during the earthquake response, share key experiences, and strengthen preparedness and effective response to future potential disasters.
During the workshop, participants were provided with the assessment of the achievements, strengths and operational challenges encountered while delivering humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected families. Comprehensive discussions were held and views were exchanged on strengthening coordination and sharing experiences for future emergency responses.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants shared their experiences, perspectives and recommendations, emphasizing the importance of continued joint efforts to further strengthen rapid, coordinated and effective emergency response.
The findings and recommendations of the workshop are expected to contribute to more effective emergency operations management, enhanced preparedness and improved quality of humanitarian services provided by ARCS.
