Herat: Residential Houses Worth 20 Million AFN Handed Over to 60 Earthquake-Affected Families

The ARCS has constructed and handed over 60 new residential houses, worth a total of AFN 20 million, to earthquake-affected families in Bidak Murad Kohi village, Gulran District, Herat Province.
The handover ceremony was attended by Mr. Hafiz Azizur Rahman, Vice President of the ARCS; Alhaj Dr. Abdul Basir Rahmani, Head of the Western Zone; directors of the relevant ARCS branches; a delegation from the Herat provincial administration; officials of Gulran District; local elders; and residents of the area.
At the outset of the ceremony, the Head of the ARCS Western Zone welcomed participants and provided an overview of the housing project. He noted that the initiative was implemented by the ARCS to support earthquake-affected families and help meet their shelter needs.
The Vice President of the ARCS then expressed his appreciation to humanitarian organizations and local authorities for their cooperation and highlighted the organization’s humanitarian assistance, shelter support, and reconstruction activities for communities affected by the Herat earthquake.
He stated that the ARCS had stood alongside affected communities since the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, providing rescue operations, healthcare services, and humanitarian assistance. He further noted that the construction of 60 new housing units in Gulran District forms an important part of the ARCS’s shelter and reconstruction program, aimed at addressing the housing needs of earthquake-affected families.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Gulran District administration presented certificates of appreciation to ARCS officials in recognition of the organization’s valuable services in supporting earthquake-affected families and other vulnerable members of the community.
The project was funded through the generous support of the Red Cross Society of China, the Embassy of China in Afghanistan, Afghans residing in Qatar, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Implementation was carried out by Samim Qasemi Construction Company in Bidak Murad Kohi village of Gulran District, Herat Province.
The ARCS strives to provide sustainable support to families affected by natural disasters through shelter and reconstruction projects, while creating the necessary conditions for them to rebuild stable and secure lives.
