Kabul: Afghan and Malaysian Red Crescent Societies Emphasize Expansion of Humanitarian Cooperation

Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, General President of the ARCS, held an online meeting with Ms. Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, National Chairperson and Leader of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, and several other officials of the organization to discuss the expansion of humanitarian assistance and cooperation.

During the meeting, Mr. Delawar provided an overview of the ARCS’s healthcare and humanitarian services. He highlighted the treatment and surgical operations provided through the ARCS Cardiac Hospital for children with congenital heart defects, the care and treatment of people with mental health conditions across seven regional zones, and humanitarian services being provided at camps for returnees arriving from neighboring countries.

He added that the ARCS provides healthcare services to people in need across the country through 217 fixed clinics and mobile health teams. He also noted that the organization provides necessary assistance to people affected by disasters and others in need, based on their circumstances and requirements.

The General President of the ARCS described the support of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society as important for further strengthening these activities and called for further cooperation.

For her part, Ms. Safinaz praised the ARCS’s efforts to support people affected by disasters and provide humanitarian services.

She welcomed the policy developed for ARCS volunteers, noting that it would strengthen the protection and support of volunteers while also creating better conditions for them to carry out their activities more effectively.

Ms. Safinaz further emphasized that cooperation between the two Red Crescent societies is important for expanding and improving the delivery of humanitarian services.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the continuation and expansion of humanitarian assistance, joint activities, and bilateral cooperation.
