Kandahar: Discussions Held on the Polio Eradication Program and Expanding Basic Health Services

During an official visit to Kandahar Province, ARCS Vice President Hafiz Azizur Rahman met with several international partners to discuss the polio eradication program, expanding basic health services, and humanitarian cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Alhaj Mawlawi Abdul Samad Sani, Head of the Kandahar Zone; Dr. Hossam Faysal, Head of the IFRC Delegation in Afghanistan; Dr. Chris Elias, President of the Global Development Division at the Gates Foundation; and Ms. Ana Maria Guzman, Regional Director for Asia-Pacific at the Gates Foundation.
During the meeting, comprehensive discussions were held on the implementation of polio vaccination campaigns, improving the quality of healthcare services, strengthening the capacity of health facilities, expanding health services, and increasing the effectiveness of humanitarian assistance.
Participants emphasized the importance of further expanding health services, improving the effectiveness of the polio vaccination program, building the capacity of health workers, and ensuring sustainable access to basic health services for vulnerable communities.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the ARCS and its international partners, stressing that strengthening healthcare services, advancing polio eradication efforts, and supporting vulnerable people will remain key shared priorities.
