Kabul: Training Workshop Titled “Islam and International Humanitarian Law” Held for Religious Scholars

At the initiative of the Legal Directorate of the ARCS and with financial support from the ICRC, a one-day training workshop titled “Islam and International Humanitarian Law” was held in Kabul for 35 religious scholars from a number of religious schools, as well as civilian and military institutions.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Ahmad Noor Hanif, Director of Da’wah and Guidance of the ARCS, addressed the workshop’s topic. He said that, based on Islamic and humanitarian values, the ARCS provides humanitarian assistance and essential services to individuals without guardians, vulnerable communities, and families affected by disasters. He emphasized that religious scholars play an important role in promoting humanitarianism, cooperation, and human values, as well as strengthening public awareness.
Dr. Delawar Sailab, representing the religious scholars, addressed the workshop participants and provided comprehensive information on the principles and guidelines of Islamic Sharia and international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians during armed conflicts, respect for human dignity, and the rights of detainees. He described adherence to these principles as a shared responsibility of all parties.
During the workshop, participants also received comprehensive information about the history and identity of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as well as the principles, objectives, and academic significance of Islam and international humanitarian law.
