The ARCS, with financial support from the Hong Kong Red Cross and technical support from the Danish Red Cross, distributed essential equipment worth AFN 157,480 to 14 returnee refugee families in Herat City and Guzara District to strengthen their small businesses.

The beneficiaries were among 60 families that had previously received assistance from the ARCS to start small businesses. They were facing difficulties in expanding their businesses due to a lack of essential equipment. Therefore, based on their needs, additional essential equipment was provided and distributed to them.

The assistance included air coolers, solar power systems, generators, shade structures, and other essential equipment, according to each family’s occupation and specific needs. The aim was to reduce the challenges caused by the lack of electricity, extreme heat, and working in open areas, and to create suitable conditions for the continuation of their businesses.

The programme is being implemented with the aim of strengthening the economic capacity of returnee refugee families, promoting self-reliance, and creating sustainable income-generating opportunities.
