Herat: 37 Patients with Mental Health Conditions Return Home After Completing Treatment

Thirty-seven male patients from the Mental Health Care and Treatment Center of the ARCS in Herat Province, which serves the western zone, were handed over to their families at a ceremony after completing their treatment and recovering.
The ARCS also provided each recovered patient with AFN 5,000 to cover transportation costs for reaching their homes.
Currently, 1,164 patients with mental health conditions are receiving treatment and care at the center. Of these, 404 are receiving inpatient services, while the remaining 760 are receiving healthcare services outside the center.
The ARCS has mental health care and treatment centers in six zones of the country: Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Herat, and Kunduz. The centers provide patients with treatment, healthcare, and appropriate care services.
In addition to treating patients with mental health conditions, providing a safe and organized environment that ensures their human dignity, psychological well-being, and appropriate care is among the important components of the ARCS’s health services.
