Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis, the Acting Director General of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, met with Robert Mood, the Director General of the Norwegian Red Cross in Norway to discuss the continuation and expansion of assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society.

This meeting focused on the necessities of the people in need and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

The Director General of the Norwegian Red Cross, Robert Mood, assured the acting director of the Afghan Red Crescent that they intend to extend their operations and humanitarian activities in Afghanistan.

Robert Mood said they had sent Norwegian Red Cross Secretary General Brent Appland to Afghanistan for that purpose. He said "the Norwegian Red Cross is working in cooperation with the Afghan Red Crescent and would increase assistances". The Acting Director of the Afghan Red Crescent Society called on the Norwegian Red Cross to assist in building the capacity of the Afghan Red Crescent staff.

Maulawe Matiul Haq Khalis assured the Director General of the Norwegian Red Cross, Mr. Robert Mood that their assistance would reach to the needy people in Afghanistan in a timely and transparent manner. The one-hour meeting was attended by the Director of the Norwegian Red Cross, as well as the Deputy Director of the Norwegian Red Cross and the Director of Finance.
