A grand opening ceremony was held on the occasion of the special week of Afghan Red Crescent! Today, on 30th of Rabi ul Awwal, in the capital Kabul, in the presence Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative affairs, the Director General of Administrative office ,the head of International Federation of National Societies in Afghanistan, the head of ICRC in Afghanistan, the National Societies representatives in Afghanistan and national leaders, a grand opening ceremony was held on ARCS special week. Initially, Director General of Administrative office, Sheikh Nurul Haq Anwar, has read the supportive message of the Prime Minister of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, where the citizens of the country were requested to donate aid to Afghan Red Crescent during the special week. Late on, the Acting President of Afghan Red Crescent Mawlavi Matiul Haq Khalis stated in his speech, "Afghan Red Crescent is a non-political and independent society of the country, which until now has provided services to the vulnerable, sick and needy people without any discrimination ".He said, "Our effort is to find funds for our services from our own resources and not to rely on foreign aid." Mr. Mawlavi Matiul Haq Khalis stated "The special week is a complete week in Afghanistan, which could enable our citizens to take part in reaching out to needy and vulnerable people and save our people from poverty ". He said, "The purpose of the special week is to boost the spirit of help among the citizens having desire to reach out to the people; I hope that the people will not limit the donation to Afghan Red Crescent to the special week only, But they should extend their help for the whole year". He said, "If a quarter of our citizens pay 100 AFG every month to ARCS, then a lot of aid will be collected for the poor people; We are also working on how to save our citizens from receiving one bag of aid and let them be independent". In order to help the poor, Mr. Mawlavi Matiul Haq Khalis announced that he is donating his one month's salary to Afghan Red Crescent and requested others to donate at least one day's salary to Afghan Red Crescent. In the meeting, Prime Minister deputy for administrative affairs of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, called ARCS a foundation deserving to be supported and appreciated , and hoped the strengthen of the welfare institutions. He further stated ,"ARCS Red is a non-budgetary unit of the government, which provides services to the vulnerable people with the support of rich people and national societies ; it is necessary that the rich citizens should donate aid to Afghan Red Crescent during the special week,because Afghan Red Crescent with the help of these donations, treat and care the children suffering from coronary heart disease, psychiatric patients and drug addicts. Mr. Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi added "Afghan Red Crescent performs its responsibilities well,in natural disasters, Afghan Red Crescent has carried out compatible activities; it is our national duty to support Afghan Red Crescent, everyone should have their share in the special week of Red Crescent, If we all support the red crescent , we will had participated in the treatment of children suffering from ventricular sceptical defects accordingly". In the meeting, the head of International Committee of ICRC in Afghanistan, Elva Fillion, the head of the International Federation of National Societies in Afghanistan,Necephur Meghandi, the member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Afghanistan, Dr. Tawfiq Ibrahim and some other people also expressed their support to Afghan Red Crescent.
