Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, General President of the ARCS, held an online meeting with Mr. Yasuo Tanaka, Special Representative for International Affairs of the President of the Japanese Red Cross Society, to discuss humanitarian cooperation, strengthening bilateral relations, and expanding joint activities.

During the meeting, Mr. Delawar expressed his appreciation to the Japanese Red Cross for its assistance to people in need, women without guardians, children and their families in achieving self-reliance, training programs, assistance to those affected by the earthquake in Kunar, and efforts related to climate change.

He shared information about the humanitarian and healthcare services of the ARCS and said that, in addition to treating children from families in need who suffer from congenital heart defects at the Cardiac Hospital, the organization provides daily healthcare services to dozens of patients through Kabul Central Hospital, basic health clinics, and mobile health teams.

He added that around 1,500 people with mental health conditions are currently receiving treatment in seven regional offices across the country, while treatment and care services are being provided to nearly 1,500 other patients in their homes. In addition, cash assistance is transferred each month through the banking system to nearly 4,500 families in need.

Mr. Delawar also shared information about the ARCS’s services during natural disasters and emergencies and the role of its volunteers. He said that most of the ARCS’s humanitarian activities are carried out in cooperation with operational partners and called for continued and expanded support from international partners to further strengthen the effectiveness of humanitarian services.

Mr. Tanaka praised the humanitarian services of the ARCS and said that the Japanese Red Cross is committed to continuing its cooperation with the ARCS.

He also emphasized the continuation of humanitarian cooperation and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two sides.
