Acting President of ARCS: Supporting Returnees is a Fundamental Part of Our Work

Sheikh Ul Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, Acting President of ARCS, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, and several other cabinet members, visited Herat province to assess the situation of returnees repatriated from Iran.
The delegation inspected facilities at the Islam Qala border crossing, including ARCS-operated center and camps established by other agencies. They evaluated the humanitarian and healthcare services being provided to returnees there.
Speaking at a joint press briefing, the officials emphasized that a designated committee has taken all necessary measures to assist the returnees. The officials added that, in addition to providing temporary shelter, efforts are underway to ensure a systematic distribution of medical services and humanitarian aid.
Since the start of this repatriation process, ARCS has delivered the following services:
• Distributed hot meals to 10,000 individuals.
• Supplied fresh bread to 9,000 people.
• Provided clean drinking water to 11,520 returnees.
• Delivered medical services through two mobile health teams to thousands of returnees, including checkups, medication, wound care, maternal and child healthcare, psychological support, and healthcare awareness.
• Registered newly returned individuals and referred them to healthcare facilities.
• Assisted in tracing and reuniting separated family members.
In his remarks, Mr. Delawar stated that supporting returnees is a fundamental part of our work. He further added to double the number of mobile health teams from two to four, increase daily meal distributions to between 2,000 to 6,000, and deploy additional support staff in the area.
