Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, General President of the ARCS, met with Richard Lindsay, the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan.

During the meeting, both sides held comprehensive discussions on supporting internally displaced families and returnees from neighboring countries, as well as on expanding humanitarian assistance.

Mr. Delawar expressed his appreciation for the United Kingdom’s humanitarian support and provided an overview of ARCS’s ongoing humanitarian activities.

He noted that ARCS currently operates mental health care and treatment centers across seven zones of the country, where approximately 1,500 male and female patients are receiving care, while a further 1,500 patients are being treated in their homes.

Mr. Delawar added that, in the near future, a specialized hospital for children with congenital heart defects will become operational. Through this facility, up to 2,000 children are expected to undergo life-saving surgeries each year, performed by specialized medical staff.

He emphasized the need to further expand support for meeting the basic needs of returning refugees and internally displaced families.

Mr. Lindsay commended the humanitarian services of ARCS and reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s continued support for the organization. He also noted that, in the near future, humanitarian assistance would be delivered to ARCS through the IFRC.
