Balkh: 400 Tons of Humanitarian Assistance from Uzbekistan Handed Over to ARCS

400 metric tons of humanitarian assistance consisting of food items and medical supplies, sent by the Republic of Uzbekistan, were handed over to the ARCS during a ceremony held in Balkh. The event was attended by Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, Governor of Balkh Province; Mullah Mohammad Hanif Khalid, Director of the ARCS Northern Zone; Qari Mohammad Younis Masoumi, Head of the ARCS Provincial Branch; Ismatullah Irgashov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan; Ulugbek Qasymov, Governor of Surkhandarya Province of Uzbekistan; along with a number of other provincial officials.
In his remarks, the Governor of Balkh stated that Uzbekistan is among the countries that have consistently provided humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan during times of natural and non-natural disasters. He expressed gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan and the visiting delegation for today’s assistance, adding that such cooperation is of great value to the Afghan people.
Subsequently, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan assured that his country has always demonstrated solidarity with the Afghan people during emergencies and will continue its efforts to expand such humanitarian assistance.
The Director of the ARCS Northern Zone stated that, under the guidance of ARCS leadership and through a transparent process, the assistance will be distributed to deserving, needy, and disaster-affected people. He emphasized that ARCS strives to distribute humanitarian assistance fairly across the country, in accordance with the needs of the people.
The assistance included 96 tons of flour, 22 tons of rice, 22 tons of sugar, 20,000 liters of cooking oil, 40 tons of macaroni, 20,000 cans of canned meat, 180,000 hot meals, and 169 tons of various medical supplies.
