A one-day training workshop on disaster risk reduction was held at the central headquarters of the ARCS for a number of staff members from the Youth and Volunteers, Health Services, and Disaster Management departments.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mawlawi Rohullah Abdul Salam, Under-Secretary General for Operational Affairs, noted that strengthening preparedness against both natural and man-made disasters and reducing risks play a vital role in protecting communities and minimizing humanitarian losses.

He further stated that professional training and capacity building enable staff to provide rapid, organized, and effective services during emergencies, thereby reducing the scale of potential damages and losses.

Mawlawi Abdul Salam added that the ARCS remains committed to enhancing the capacity of its staff and implementing training programs in the field of disaster management in order to better fulfill its humanitarian and social responsibilities. He also noted that the organization is striving to further strengthen the professional skills and competencies of relevant personnel in this area.

The workshop, funded by the Danish Red Cross, provided participants with essential knowledge and practical experience on disaster risk reduction, public awareness, coordination during emergencies, preparedness, and effective response.

Through the capacity building of its staff and volunteers, the ARCS strives to further enhance preparedness and response capabilities for both natural and man-made disasters, while improving the quality of humanitarian services delivered to vulnerable communities.
